Rhun’s response to Health Inspectorate Wales’ report on Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley

Ynys Môn Assembly Member Rhun ap Iorwerth said:

“This is clearly a very worrying report that will cause concern to patients and their families, as well as to dedicated staff working at Penrhos Stanley.

“I’ve written to the Health Board and I’ll be staying in close contact with them to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to respond to the serious concerns raised in the report.

“Penrhos Stanley forms a vital part of care provision on Anglesey. I believe it has been under-used and recent ward closures has been proof of the pressures the hospital has faced. We must ensure that the warning sounded in this report can lead to investment for the future.

“Plaid Cymru’s plans to train and recruit 1000 Doctors and 5000 nurses over the coming decade – including training more in north Wales – will help alleviate some of the pressures the NHS faces.”
