A tale of two Post Offices: New hope for Amlwch as we fight for the service in Llangefni

Rhun ap Iorwerth AM says he is heartened by recent discussions on a potential new location for Amlwch Post Office. The town has been without a Post Office counter service for a number of months. Rhun ap Iorwerth said:

“It is totally unacceptable for a town of Amlwch’s size to be without a counter service. I have done all I could to emphasise to Post Office Ltd the need to resume a service as quickly as possible. I’m hopeful, after meeting Post Office officials, that good news is around the corner.”

Meanwhile, Mr ap Iorwerth says he has been angered by the decision of Post Office Ltd to reopen consultation on the future of the Crown Post Office in Llangefni. Rhun said:

“It’s not long ago since we were celebrating the decision to keep the Crown Post Office in its high street location, vital for customer and the well-being of the town. Now the Post Office says it will resume a search for someone else to take over postal services. I’m told that it’s unlikely that would mean counter services remaining in the current location. As I did before, I’ve made it very clear to the Post Office that the current provision should be preserved.”
