Rhun welcomes money to improve safety on B5110

Ynys Môn Assembly Member Rhun ap Iorwerth has welcomed the news that improvements are to be made on a stretch of dangerous road on Anglesey.

Earlier this year, Rhun wrote to the Council after being one of the first on the scene of an accident on the B5110, to ask for a safety review.

The Council submitted a bid, supported by North Wales Police, for funding from Welsh Government and today, the Government has announced it has allocated £163,000 to upgrade signage, road markings and improve the road surface on the B5110 between Llangefni and Marianglas.

Rhun ap Iorwerth commented:

“I was one of the first on the scene of an accident there in January. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt, but others pointed out to me at the time that there had been a number of accidents at the same spot.

“Having written to the council to ask what steps could be taken to improve safety, I’m now delighted to hear that there will be investment. I’m grateful to council officials for acting quickly.

“Hopefully these measures can help to prevent another accident from happening here.”
