Rhun ap Iorwerth hails Anglesey’s excellent Welsh Youth Parliament candidates.

Chairing a hustings for Ynys Mon candidates at the magnificent Menai Science Park in Gaerwen on Friday evening, Plaid Cymru Assembly Member Rhun ap Iorwerth hailed the island’s seven Welsh Youth Parliament hopefuls and commended them for their ambition and enthusiasm.

Mr ap Iorwerth chaired an hour-long session at the science park attended by young people where they had the chance to quiz Anglesey’s candidates, with questions put forward by the island’s Secondary School Councils.

The deadline to vote in the elections is fast approaching as the voting closes at 5pm this Sunday, with over 1,000 young people on Anglesey having registered to vote – one of the best represented constituencies throughout Wales in terms of registered votes – and Mr ap Iorwerth praised the island’s candidates following the hustings at M-Sparc.

Mr ap Iorwerth said:

“I thoroughly enjoyed hosting an Ynys Mon hustings at M-Sparc this evening for the Welsh Youth Parliament elections. It was a real pleasure to chair such a great session and meet five of our seven excellent candidates.

“You have to be brave to stand an election, but the privilege of being able to stand is something I hope all candidates have enjoyed, and all of these candidates are winners in the eyes of Ynys Mon as their ambition and enthusiasm to represent their fellow young people is commendable and they should be applauded for that.

“Only one will be chosen to represent Anglesey, of course, but I hope that all seven candidates who chose to put their names forward in this election have had a valuable and enjoyable experience, and certainly from talking to the candidates here at M-Sparc tonight, they have definitely enjoyed it, and I look forward to working with them all in the future.”
