Ynys Môn Assembly Member Rhun ap Iorwerth has given his backing to the ‘Say No To Ageism’ Campaign launched by Wales’ Older People’s Commissioner.

The initiative was launched by Commissioner Sarah Rochira today (October 1) to mark the International Day of Older Persons.

Anglesey AM Rhun ap Iorwerth said: “Ageism is not as often in the public spotlight as issues of racism or sexism and I welcome the Commissioner’s attempt to highlight this key matter.

“Older people play vital roles across communities such as in volunteering or caring work and ageism can have a dramatic impact on lives. We need to recognise the contribution older people make. It is vital that discrimination of older people is tackled and not ignored.”
